Recently, H.R. 3781, the INSURANCE Act, was introduced in Congress but did not pass the House.
This bill would have increased the minimum amount of required trucking insurance from $750,000.00 to $4.9 million to account for medical cost inflation from 1980-2019. As it stands right now, a tractor trailer can operate on the roadways with only $750,000.00 of coverage. In today’s world, this is not enough coverage given the devastating consequences that can result from a trucking accident.
Please act now to support reintroduction of this bill and contact your Members of Congress to urge them to co-sponsor the INSURANCE Act. This is simple to do and will only take a minute of your time:
- Go to link: https://www.safertrucking.org/advocacy#/1
- Scroll down to input your address;
- Send a support letter to your Senators and Representative;
- If you have a personal relationship with members of Congress, please contact them to urge this action.
Thank you for taking just a few minutes of your time to support this legislative “push” that is so important to our clients and what we do!
