Giant letters arrived on South Franklin Street in Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday, October 28th for the new sign on top of the Bank Building. The 9ft tall letters were hoisted by crane to the top of the 14-story building and will be installed on the rooftop sign structure to spell Anzalone & Doyle.
New Anzalone & Doyle sign to be completed in 2025.
In 1912, Miners National Bank, the original owner of the building, put up the first illuminated sign.
The United Penn Bank sign replaced Miners National Bank sign. The specific date a sign was placed under that exact name is not certain.
The Citizens Bank sign replaced United Penn Bank. This sign remained on the building even after Citizens Bank moved out in 2013, and the last of the letters were removed in late 2020.
